Ear Surgery [Otoplasty]
Enhancing your appearance with ear surgery
Large size of external ear is called at bat ear, this is by birth, and does not look aesthetic. By surgery this large size and abnormal projection can be corrected which is called as otoplasty. This improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. Deformities caused by injury can also be corrected.

Sometimes the external ear called pinna can be absent, this is called Microtia, and there can be very small pinna which is crumpled ,this is called lope ear. These deformities require major reconstruction of pinna, which is multistage procedure. This reconstruction can be done using patients own material that is costochondral cartilage, or porex or silicone implants can be used. Artificial external removable prosthesis can also be used.
Ear surgery creates a natural shape, while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Correction of even minor deformities can have profound bene?ts to appearance and self-esteem.

Ear surgery can treat:-
Overly large ears - a rare condition called macrotia
Protruding ears occurring on one or both sides in varying degrees - not associated with hearing loss
Adult dissatisfaction with previous ear surgery

External ear corrective surgery are usually done as outdoor procedure ,under local anaesthesia and patient can go home on same day.
Large protruding ears , ie BAT EAR on one or both sides can be corrected with plastic surgery, procedure called as OTOPLASTY Surgical techniques create or increase an under-developed ear fold or reduce enlarged cartilage to create a more normal appearance. Conditions that can be treated include:
MICROTIA--- is a complex congenital ear deformity where the outer ear is severely disfigured or small remnants like ear is present. Microtia can be present with variable hearing loss.
ANOTIA--- Congenital absence of ear is called anotia. Reconstruction requires staged surgical procedures to create a more normal external ear and improve hearing. Reconstruction of ear framework may be done using rib cartilage and using floating rib or POREX EAR FRAME can be used.
